Getting into a healthy habit
Our dental group is built on a foundation of fear-free, periodic visits to our office, conveniently located near the intersection of South Americana Boulevard and West Shoreline Drive. These routine visits include both professional cleanings and comprehensive oral exams. The idea is to protect the teeth, gums, and mouth from damage and to maintain oral health, function, and a smile that patients love to show off!
Our hygienists have special training and instruments to gently remove surface stains, bacteria, plaque, and tartar. Stubborn plaque build-up, or tartar, cannot be removed with standard toothbrushes and floss.
They can also provide home care suggestions and products tailored to your unique needs.
Our dentists may also discuss professional preventive services to get ahead of potential damage to the teeth and gums, especially among those patients who may be at risk of developing conditions such as enamel erosion, dental decay, and fractures. These services include custom oral appliances to protect the teeth from excessive wear and tear caused by chronic bruxism (teeth grinding).
Oral exams also get ahead of severe damage that may lead to the loss of teeth or tissues. We can detect conditions early before patients develop symptoms and realize they have a problem! Early detection of conditions such as gum disease, tooth decay, and oral cancers can save teeth and even lives. This approach to care supports early intervention and effective treatment. Our experienced dentists are aided in this mission by cutting-edge digital imaging, which allows them to “see” very small or hidden areas that are not visible to the naked eye.
Age is not a disease!
While many oral problems can be avoided, you may find yourself more susceptible to dental or periodontal damage as your overall health changes. For instance, diseases such as diabetes (and the medications used to treat them) can increase your risk of developing oral infections.
At Summit Dental Group, we believe that tooth loss does not have to be a part of aging. Many of our patients have been able to keep all of their natural teeth well into their golden years. In the event that we do need to restore or even replace a badly broken or damaged tooth, we have many state-of-the-art options. Treatments to replace a portion or all of a tooth are indistinguishable in form and function from healthy, natural teeth.
These options include:
- Durable dental crowns
- Precision-fit bridges
- Dental implant-supported crowns, bridges, and dentures (designed like natural teeth – from the roots upwards!)
- Highly aesthetic porcelain veneers to strengthen weak teeth and correct imperfections such as chipped teeth and gaps between teeth
