Tips for Finding the Best Dentist in Boise

Looking for a new dentist? Whether you’re new to the area or just looking for a change, it can be tough to figure out which dentist is the best fit for you and your family. With so many dentists in Boise to choose from, how can you be sure that you’re making the right decision? We’ve put together five tips to help make your search easier.

1. Ask Family and Friends for Recommendations

If you’re new to the Treasure Valley or don’t have any family or friends in the area, ask your current dentist for a recommendation. Chances are they know other dentists in the area and can point you in the right direction. Another great way to find a good dentist is by asking people you trust for recommendations. If you have friends or family who live in the area, see if they have a dentist that they love and can recommend. You can also ask your co-workers or neighbors if they have any recommendations. Getting personal recommendations is often one of the best ways to find a great dentist in Boise that you’ll love going to.

2. Always Check Online Reviews

Once you have a few names of dentists to check out, the next step is to read online reviews. When reading reviews, pay attention to both positive and negative comments. A few negative reviews shouldn’t necessarily dissuade you from choosing a particular dentist in Boise, but if there are multiple negative reviews about the same issue, it might be something to take into consideration. In addition to reading online reviews, you can also check out dental directory sites to see ratings and comments from patients. These sites are a great resource for getting unbiased information about dentists.

Summit Dental Group is proud to share our 5-star ratings from patients throughout the Treasure Valley. We love what we do, and our passion shines through in the services we provide and customer satisfaction.

3. Collect and Verify Patient References

Once you’ve read online reviews and narrowed down your list of potential dentists, the next step is to collect and verify patient references. A good way to do this is to call each dentist’s office and ask if they have any patient references that you can speak with. If they do, be sure to follow up with those patients and ask about their experiences with the dentist.

It’s also a good idea to verify the references by checking them out online. A quick Google search should give you an idea of whether or not the reference is legitimate. If a dentist doesn’t have any patient references or refuses to provide them, that could be a red flag that you might want to look elsewhere.

4. Schedule a Consultation

Once you’ve collected references and verified them, the next step is to schedule a consultation. This is a great way to get to know the dentist and see if they’re a good fit for you. During your consultation, be sure to ask questions about the dentist’s experience, education, and training. You should also ask about their approach to dentistry and what kinds of services they offer.

The consultation is also a great time to get a feel for the dentist’s personality and bedside manner. It’s important that you feel comfortable with your dentist and that you feel like they have your best interests at heart. If you don’t feel comfortable with the dentist or if they don’t seem like a good fit for you, it might be time to look elsewhere.

5. Ask Plenty of Preliminary Questions

Before you schedule your first appointment, be sure to ask plenty of preliminary questions. This is your chance to get all of the information you need about the dentist and their practice.

Some important questions to ask include:

  • What are the dentist’s hours?
  • What is the dentist’s cancellation policy?
  • Does the dentist accept my insurance?
  • What forms of payment does the dentist accept?
  • What are the dentist’s office policies?

Asking these questions upfront will help you avoid any surprises down the road. Scheduling a consultation is also a great way to get answers to any preliminary questions that you might have.
