Dental Implants

Using cosmetic dental implants to replace missing teeth

Addressing cosmetic imperfections in the smile is a goal for many patients at Summit Dental Group in Boise, Idaho. We know how essential it is to have a smile you can proudly share with others! If you find yourself avoiding certain social situations or covering your smile with your hand, you may be a great candidate for cosmetic and restorative dental services like dental implants.

Each doctor at Summit Dental Group, Drs. Carson Mooney, Robert Studebaker, Lance Ritchie, and Zach Richardson specializes in implant dentistry.

Replacing a lost or extracted tooth

While our natural teeth are designed to last a lifetime, there may be situations where a tooth might be significantly damaged or lost. In cases like this, our team at Summit Dental Group encourages you to be mindful of the replacement options available to you. Replacing a lost or extracted tooth as soon as possible ensures that the surrounding teeth do not shift out of place and you do not experience bone loss.

Most patients may want to consider dental implants to achieve the best results. Dental implants are special posts made of titanium, a biocompatible metal, placed in the jawbone by a dentist during oral surgery, ensuring a proper fit and functional foundation. The top of the dental implant, called the abutment, can be covered with a porcelain restoration to restore the smile’s appearance and function.

Why should I choose cosmetic dental implants?

Dental implants are typically considered the “gold standard” in tooth replacement. Our team at Summit Dental Group encourages patients to consider implants for replacing one or more teeth in the smile. These restorations will last years and years when patients take great care of them and are the most functional choice among other options, including partial dentures, full dentures, and dental bridges.

Am I a candidate for cosmetic dental implants?

To have an implant placed, you must have enough bone in the jaw to support the implant and allow it to take hold. When X-rays are performed, and you find out you have already experienced some bone loss, our team might first recommend bone grafting to build up the natural bone and prepare it for the placement of one or more dental implants in the future. An alternative choice is a dental bridge which is also available at our office.
