Boise Dental: Invisalign Solutions For Straightening Your Smile

Many people throughout the Treasure Valley find themselves hiding their smile due to crooked or misaligned teeth. Although we may have had the option to fix our smile, many of us don’t want to go through the hassle of dealing with metal braces. Fortunately, however, dental technology has advanced a great deal over the years meaning metal braces are not the only option for straightening teeth. In fact, more and more people are turning to Invisalign as an affordable, and more comfortable teeth alignment solution.

What is Invisalign?

Today, Invisalign is a remarkable solution for those with uneven smiles. Available for adults and teenagers alike, these clear, removable braces are designed to eliminate spacing issues and crowded teeth for patients while simultaneously being nearly invisible to the naked eye. As a popular advancement in cosmetic dentistry, people are able to achieve the smile they’ve always wanted without the look, feel and hassle of traditional metal braces.

Beyond their unnoticeable transparency, Invisalign aligners also offer a number of benefits over traditional braces. Convenient in design, Invisalign is custom-made to a patient’s teeth and is removable for brushing and eating. There are no wires or brackets to worry about, and people can go about their normal lives while wearing an aligner.

Carefree, and simple, these revolutionary aligners are not only popular for their ease of use but because they provide excellent results when compared to traditional metal braces. This is because Invisalign allows your Boise dentist to measure and fit you for aligners while easily predicting teeth movement as your smile gradually straightens.

The Invisalign Process

After consulting the need for braces or alignment with your Boise dentist, detailed scans of your teeth will be taken. Using these scans, a treatment plan is developed to establish a timetable and plan for how long you will require aligners. Once these steps have been taken, the custom-made Invisalign aligners will be provided to you to use daily. Typically, a patient wears their aligners between 20-22 hours per day but can be taken out for eating meals as well as brushing and flossing their teeth.

Once a week, you will need to switch out your current aligners for a new pair as your teeth gradually shift. You will also need to check in with your Boise dentist every 4-6 weeks to monitor progress and make any adjustments needed.

Is Invisalign the Right Fit for You?

The best thing about Invisalign is that it does much more than offer a straighter smile. They are designed to correct an uneven teeth line, overbites, crossbites, and gaps while contributing to overall Boise dental health. By correcting misaligned teeth, you can reduce your risk of crowded teeth, gum disease, and decay.

However, not everyone is a good candidate for Invisalign. This can be due to gum disease, extensive decay or other oral complications. It should also be noted that if you do end up getting Invisalign, you must remain committed to wearing your aligners for the recommended amount of time your Boise dentist suggests for maximum results.
